Vera Bonilha –  Brazilian actress, voiceover talent and voice actor.

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil on 3 August 1972.

I am a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema, at FAAP (Faculdade Armando Álvares Penteado). As an actress, I  graduated from Studio Fátima Toledo, from CPT (Theater Research Center) and Celia Helena Theater School.

I’ve been a professional voiceover talent since 2000 and a voice actor since 2016.

My career is mostly marked by the theater. I started my professional carrer with the play Baal, directed by Marcelo Fonseca in 1996. In 1997 I created the Cia 3×4, with Raquel Marinho, Roberto Rocha, and Ricardo Leitte. We worked together until 2000.

From 2001 to 2013 I was part of Cia Bendita Trupe, and acted in 7 plays: O Casamento (The Wedding), Espiral do Tempo (Time Spiral), O Tesouro de Balacobaco (Balacobaco’s Treasure), A Estrada (Another Road), Miserê Bandalha, Assembléia dos Bichos (Animal Assembly) and Os Collegas (Colleagues).

In 2002 I also worked with Naum Alves de Souza in the play Mano by Gilberto Dimenstein, in 2007 under the direction of Rubens Rusche, I joined the cast of Crepúsculo – Três Peças Curtas de Samuel Beckett (Twilight – Three Short Plays by Samuel Beckett). In 2010 I worked with the Russian director Jurij Alschitz in a Summer Academy in Italy and staged The Lady with the Lapdog by Anton Chekhov. In 2011 I produced Jurij Alschitz’s course Laboratório.Tchékhov, at SESC Consolação, São Paulo, Brazil.

Currently I am a part of  Teatro do Tempo Company (a group interested in investigate the automatization of the contemporary society), that started in 2010 with the play As Cegas (Blind), created by Cláudia Maria de Vasconcellos (playwright), Neca Zarvos (actress and director), Gil Grossi (photographer and performer) and I.

On television my most recent works were The Love School a program on  Record TV in 2018, and the Soap Opera Haja Coração on Globo TV in 2016.

In Cinema I’ve appeared in feature films Jogo Subterrâneo (Underground Game), by Roberto Gervitz, Quanto Vale ou é por Kilo by Sergio Bianchi,  Acordo (Agreement) a short film by Raffaella Rosset, Selvagem (Wild), a short film by Daniel Lopes and O Presente (The Gift) by Cauê Custodio.

I performed for 6 months in Ocupação Zuzu, at Itaú Cultural, São Paulo, and at Paço Imperial, Rio de Janeiro. In 2015, I participated in the exhibition TERRA COMMUNAL – Marina Abramovic + MAI, as a Supervisor and Facilitator of the Abramovic Method, at SESC Pompéia, São Paulo, Brazil.

I was a volunteer in the Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, from 2009 to 2017 as a reader of Audio Books.

As an acting coach, I was Fatima Toledo’s assistant, to prepare the actor Vinicius de Oliveira for Walter Salles’s film Central do Brasil (Central Station). I was Antunes Filho’s assistant in the play Vereda da Salvação, and I prepared the cast of the short film Tabaco (Tobacco), by Henrique Rodrigues winner of the Gramado Festival, Brazil.

I started my professional career in 1996 with the stage name Vera Villela, but from 2010 I started to sign my original name, Vera Bonilha.
